INCEPTION

The Department of Commerce was instituted in 1996. The course in Accounting & Finance has been offered since 2007

OBJECTIVES

  • The B.Com (Accounting & Finance) degree is structured to provide a strong foundation in accounting and finance theory and practice and also to gain an in-depth knowledge on core areas of Portfolio Management, Capital Markets, Income Tax Law & Practices , to name a few.
  • The Course places special emphasis on addressing business issues where students are exposed to case studies and specific problems drawn from the Industry and encourages them to find solutions for the same.

The Department organizes several activities outside the classroom to motivate students and encourages them to hone their skills.  It also believes in exposing them to lectures from several resource persons

Bridge Course

A Bridge Course on “PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING” is offered to the 1 year Undergraduate students to introduce the course. The syllabus pattern, core subjects, electives and soft skills are explained to the students. Facilities available on campus for curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are introduced to the students. Details regarding career opportunities after graduation, competitive exam training and placement opportunities are explained.

Certificate Course

The Department of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) offers a certificate course on Human Resource Management for a duration of 30 hours during the 3rd semester

On 07-02-2023 our department students offered transparent pouch with stationaries to the students of Avvai Home who are were to appear for public exams in March, 2023.

INTER DEPARTMENTAL COMPETITON

On 15-09-22, Finance Club in Collaboration with Anti Sexual Harassment Cell organized an Interdepartmental Competition to celebrate NBEED (National Boss Employee Exchange Day) with POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment in workplace) in which MIME and POSTERMAKING were conducted. A competition on POSTER MAKING ON POSH was held on 15.09.2022,
