INCEPTION
The Department of Psychology was instituted in 1996. The B.Sc. Counselling Psychology program is a specialized three - year (6 semesters) undergraduate degree designed to provide a multidisciplinary and skill-oriented understanding of mental health practice and evidence-based counselling psychology.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide a strong foundation in counselling and applied psychology, with emphasis on advanced psychopathology, clinical psychology, and psychological assessment.
- To develop expertise in addressing mental health concerns through specialized areas such as trauma, crisis and disaster counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy, and case formulation.
- To enhance practical skills through exposure to clinical case studies, supervised counselling practicum, psychological testing, and internships.
- To promote ethical practice and professional competence in counselling through training in research methods and community psychology.
- To prepare students for careers in clinical counselling, mental health services, organisational wellness, and applied psychological research.
