INCEPTION
The Department of Commerce was instituted in 1996. The B. Com (Corporate Secretaryship) program is a specialized undergraduate degree designed to provide a complete and in-depth understanding of corporate activities, legal frameworks and secretarial practices.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide specialized knowledge in corporate law and business administration, with emphasis on company law and secretarial practices.
- To develop expertise in regulatory compliance and financial transparency through areas such as direct and indirect taxation and corporate accounting.
- To enhance problem-solving and decision-making skills in organizational contexts through subjects like industrial law, public relations, corporate social responsibility and management accounting.
- To promote ethical practices and effective governance in managing corporate operations and stakeholder relationships.
- To equip students with practical skills and industry exposure through institutional training, internships and research-based learning.

Graduates will be able to:
- Apply principles of corporate laws, company secretarial practices, accounting, taxation and auditing in organizational contexts
- Interpret legal provisions, ensure regulatory compliance and support corporate governance practices effectively
