INCEPTION
Centre of Postgraduate Legal Studies was established in the year 2019.
The LL.M. in Family Law is designed to provide advanced and specialised knowledge in family laws, matrimonial disputes, personal laws such as minority and guardianship, adoption, inheritance, child rights, and emerging legal issues affecting families and individuals.
OBJECTIVE
- To provide advanced and specialised knowledge of family laws governing marriage, divorce, maintenance, adoption, guardianship, succession and inheritance.
- To develop expertise in addressing contemporary matrimonial and family disputes, including issues relating to marital rights, domestic relationships and family property.
- To strengthen student's understanding of child rights, child welfare, custody, guardianship and adoption within the framework of national and international legal principles.
- To develop professional competence in family dispute resolution through negotiation, mediation, counselling and other alternative mechanisms for resolving matrimonial and family conflicts.
- To enhance analytical and research skills in emerging areas of family law, including changing family structures, reproductive rights, gender justice, live-in relationships and transnational family disputes.
- To promote ethical, sensitive and socially responsible approaches to family-related legal issues, with emphasis on protecting vulnerable individuals and upholding justice and human dignity.
