The Rotaract focuses on engaging the students in awareness rallies, fund raising programmes for social causes, helping the differently-abled and so on. These activities aim at building social responsibilities and leadership qualities in students.

ROTARACT REPORT- 2011-2012
The Rotaract club of our College got “The Best Joint Project Award” for “OCTOFEST” a fund raising program, which was jointly organized with Hindu College and AM Jain College on 10th October, 2010 for the eradication of Polio.
We are proud to receive a citation from the District Rotaract Council in recognition of completing all the 19 projects in one month (September) which is the “New Generation Month”.
A citation was given to the staff co-coordinator, Mrs.M.Amirtha by the District Rotaract Council for the visionary leadership and guidance.
We have adopted a female child from Annai Fatima Illam an orphanage home at karapakkam, not only to support the child with financial needs but also to shower care, love, affection and showing active interest in her education, on account of WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION on march 11th 2008. It is an ongoing project.
Vannangal is a project which we had organized on 8th of September, 2011 in accordance to International Literacy Day. Students from various schools participated and exhibited their talents in variety of competitions like painting, greeting card making, collage, Just a minute, rangoli, fancy dress and folk dance. It was wonderful to encourage them see them performing well by overcoming their fears and winning prizes. We also served them popcornand juices after which they were shown a documentary by Dr.Supraja Dharani on saving sea turtles which had the desired impact on them. It was truly Vannangal a display of “Splendid Colors of talent”
Blood donation camp:
On 14th of September, we had organized a blood donation camp in our college along with Apollo Hospitals. The Rotaractors served as volunteers for the camp in which 70 of our College students donated blood.
“Be a light in the dark, FIGHT Alzheimer's”. Such slogans were displayed in the memory walk which was organized in accordance with World Alzheimer's Day on 21st of September, 2011 by our club, and our parent club Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel. Alzheimer’s experience difficultiescommunicating, learning, thinking and reasoning problems severe enough to have an impact on an individuals work, social activities and family life. Before the rally began at Marina beach our Chief Guest Dr.A.V.Srinivasan MDMM (Neurologist) briefed the participants of the memory walk about Alzheimer’s disease. He stressed the importance of keeping ourselves and our elders healthy with simple easy to follow techniques. After the speech it was time to release the book on Alzheimer's which was presented by Rtn.Balasubramanian, President, RCMC to Dr.A.V.Srinivasan. Then it was time to start the Memory Walk in which nearly 500 Rotaractors participated. The chief guest waved the flag and led the rally. The walk from Gandhi statue to Kannagi Salai was teeming with purple caps and messages to the world to know more about Alzheimer’s and prevent ourselves and our beloved ones from this disease and taking care of the affected one’s. There was a post - memory walk presentation by Dr.A.V.Srinivasan at the college premises of Dr.MGR Janaki College. The more we care for ourselves and people around us the lesser will be the cases of this disease. Let us pledge to be a “Care Giver” so that no one loses their precious Memories.
“Ihina” the first issue of our club news letter was released by Rtn.Balasubramanian and Mr.Sridhar during our first club meeting.
We celebrated Diwali with the child whom we are sponsoring at an orphanage at karapakkam, Chennai on 24th October, 2011. We gave juices and some old clothes which were collected from our students to the children there. On the same day, we visited Banyan the home for destitute Women and donated some essential items like soaps, oil and old clothes to them.
125 rotaractors participated in the Rally organized by the Adyar Poonga Friends club to create awareness about the air pollution caused during Bogi Festival among Public on 12th January, 2012.
The Rotary club of Madras Coromandel organized a RYLA camp for our rotaractors at Brahmakumaris Retreat Centre, Happy Village, Thodavur gramam, Sunguvarchatiram, Sriperamdadur Taluk on 24th and 25th January, 2012. This camp was conducted to empower the leadership skills of the students. Many awards were given to the Rylarians.
