| Brief History |
| Dr.MGR-Janaki College was founded in the year 1996 under the aegis of Mrs. Janaki Ramachandran, who wished to start a college to pay a tribute to her husband Late Mr. M.G. Ramachandran, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Under the dedicated leadership of our Secretary & Correspondent Mrs. Latha Rajendran and Trustee Mr.M.Rajendran the
college grew from its humble beginnings to become a premier institution producing rank holders
in multidisciplines. Due to the able guidance of illustrious personalities like Late Mr.N.P.V.Ramasamy Udayar, Late Dr.N.C.Raghavachari and Dr.Jeppiaar and with the support of well wishers, the college has had a qualitative and quantitative progress.

| Affiliation & Accreditation |
| All the courses offered by the College are affiliated to the University of Madras. This college is approved vide G.O. MS 431 dated 12th June 1996, by the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

| Ragging is banned in our institution |
| Ragging is totally banned in our institution. Any student found indulging in ragging will be punished appropriately as per the rules in force and as per the orders passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. Any student who has been affected by an act of ragging shall make a complaint to the Principal.
